Advisory Committee & Sponsors Group

The Advisory Committee advises the Director on priorities for research and training and recommends to the Sponsors Group the annual program of work. The Committee consists of senior scholars and policy makers active in environmental management in Asia. A majority of the Committee's members are from Asia. Each member has a three year term, renewable once for Asian members. The Committee meets once a year, in conjunction with the November biannual workshop. 

As of  November 2008, the Committee consists of the following individuals: 
 

  • Dr Wiktor Adamowicz, Canada Research Chair (Environmental Economics), Department of Rural Economy, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada 
  • Dr Vo Tong Xuan, Professor of Agronomy and Rector Emeritus, Angiang University, Angiang, Vietnam
  • Ms Elisea Gillera Gozun, former Secretary, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Philippines 
  • Ms Monemany Nhoyhouakong, Director, Environmental Research Institute, Science Technology and Environment Agency, Vientiane, Lao PDR
  • Dr Zhang Shiqui, Professor, College of Environmental Sciences, Peking University, Beijing, China

    The Sponsors' Group of participating donors sets policy, provides financial support and approves the annual program of work and budget. It comprises all donors contributing at least USD 100,000 per year.

  • Swedish International Development Agency (Sida)
  • Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)
