ECONOMY & ENVIRONMENT PARTNERSHIP FOR SOUTHEAST ASIA
Economy and Environment Partnership for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA) is a research institute at University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), officially established in 2016 and has developed from the Economy and Environment Program for Southeast Asia (EEPSEA Program). EEPSEA has a network of Economy & Environment national organizations or institutes in several countries in the Southeast Asia region. The EEPSEA conducts multidisciplinary research that gives the environment its due value as well as by providing training courses on the use of economic tools and techniques in analyzing environmental issues.
The EEPSEA goals are to conduct environmental economics and transdisciplinary research that address human-environment interface challenges in Southeast Asia; to engage researchers from different disciplines, decision makers and communities towards sustainable development in Southeast Asia and to enhance the capacity of Southeast Asian researchers and decision makers to be effective partners in a transformation process.
In addition, EEPSEA has managed a center called Environment for Development in Vietnam (EfD-Vietnam) since 2017, which is part of the global network of environmental economics research centers - EfD Initiative. EfD Vietnam has conducted various research projects in the Southern Region of Vietnam, especially in the Mekong River Delta. We have a good connection with local officials for assisting in the data collection process.
In 2019, EEPSEA established three research centers under its umbrella: (1) Economic research information center (ERIC); (2) Center for applied research in economics and policy analysis (CARE-PA); and (3) Center for Mekong Studies (CMS). The three new research centers provide support to the transboundary and transdisciplinary research in the region. The key role of the first center is to build and manage data and information. The second center focuses on applied research that is highly policy relevant and less restrictive in terms of theory. The third center focuses its research, training, and partnership activities in the Mekong Delta.
EEPSEA has experience in conducting academic research and socioeconomic analysis with concentration in environmental, behavioral and development economics.
